The estimation is based on the statistics for how much similar players were bought in the recent days. There is a rush to buy a player before play-off, and at the end/begining of the season, so the prices are usually higher at that time frame and lower during the season.

It is also important how old is your player. Younger players with the same TSP are more expensive thab older ones. Even if it was just one season your player and similar ones are not so atractive to buyer as they were one season ago.

I hope that explains your problem.

The price estimates are based on actual sales of similar players (based on TSP and potential) over time. If prices similar players go down, the estimates go down. If the prices go up, the estimate goes up. It has nothing to do with training or the price you paid when you bought the player.

You said when you bought him it was in a bidding war. That means the current price estimate is accurate and that you paid too much originally.

In addition to the points made above, price estimates are not based on the sales price but rather a range of skills and potential. The price you paid has nothing to do with the estimates generated by the game.
