For the first time I took a look at attendance numbers and arena income around my league. Very interesting fact is, that the team with the highest attendance income is the one that demoted from DIV I the season before.

I always thought that demoting gives a huge hit in attendance?

Presumably he reduced his prices. I'd expect it to be normal that a demoted team should be one of the teams with the highest income, after all, in an earlier season they must have been the best team in the lower division to promote in the first place.

When I was in D2, I noticed that teams who didn't adjust prices following relegation really suffer, whereas those that lower prices do much better.

Id like to add that bleachers get hit harder than other seating so large arenas especially those with completed top-sides (XXXX/XXXX/500/50 types) tend to resist economic fluctuations better than teams with large bleachers. Of course they still need to adjust pricing and all that jazz but doing that well leads to better results in my experience.

In thats the case, demoted teams should be hit harder.

To punish them for not being competitive. Plus why should a team that was bad, be in the poleposition right away?

Not being competitive means 0-22, 1-21, 2-20 but 9-13, 10-12 doesn't.

Was the team you were originally talking about demoted through a play off or by finishing bottom? I'd have thought that would make a difference. If not it should.

I think in general being uncompetitive is not punished enough. Plenty of people agree with that part of your argument.

Good point. The team I am referring to finished last in its group.
