I read that there is a hidden attribute called aggressiveness. So some of your foul trouble may be caused by defense ratings and the ratings of your opponent's player but because of this hidden attribute some players are just foul prone kind of like Dennis Rodman was prone to technical fouls. I have seen owners of 100k Centers posting that their player's defense rating is 20 but they foul out game after game against lesser offensive rated players. Before I purchase anyone I look at their game logs from previous seasons to see if they are "foul prone".

This is true, but also if a player has lower defensive ratings, he will foul more. If you look at my new draftee, (32531637), you'll notice he fouled out in his first game where he was playing PG. This is probably because his Outside D is only 3 (awful). I can't tell if he is aggressive or not yet, but it's at least partly his low OD.

Aggressiveness of your player, that of his opponnent (because it influences the rate at which a player draws fouls too) and I believe defense also influences it. Aggressiveness is a hidden attribute that can't be influenced, so you can slightly correct it by training defense but I don't think it will change a lot.
