I am pretty sure my next cup game will be a blowout and I have a player who only needs a few more minutes to get to 48 for the week, if list him as a reserve, but not a backup, will he pretty much only see the floor in garbage time? I use SFDC for my substitutions.

Most likely. No promises but he should get 12 minutes if it is a blowout and he is in the reserve spot.

I would hope you don't promise.... 12 minutes for reserve is a HUGE stretch. Reserve is the third player spot. If I recall correctly generally minutes tend to distribute close to 32-12-4. Again don't quote me, but thinking of getting 12 minutes when only playing position that tends to get ~4, I wouldn't hold my breath

By BB's definition, a blow out is a 20+ point lead after 3 quarters. At this point reserves will enter the game. If such a cushion is maintained through the 4th, the reserves will play the remaining 12 minutes. Always. I think. Bad memory.

Generally minutes depend on depth and what type of strategies for substitutions you are using. many of my games (where I run a 9 man lineup where all 9 of my players are very close in strength) they all get right around 24 minutes each (except for my trainee who gets 48 minutes a game). 12 minutes for a reserve is only a huge stretch if you are talking about a close game. This however is a blowout situation so after the 3rd quarter the reserves will most likely be put in and get 12 minutes. Or at least that is how it has always worked for me in y blowout cup wins.

Ah I see, it may just be me then, I usually expect to get ~ 5 mins when I play someone at reserve, but I do understand that the skill of the reserve vs the main player factors into the minute distribution
