He has enough potential to be a long-term trainee, but he needs training in DR and ID. First, I would give him 1v1 Forwards until his DR is at least average. It trains DR while partially training IS. It also trains HA less, which will keep him cheaper. Next, I would train ID until he hits respectable. After that, I would work on his OD until he reaches strong.

Unless the guy is going to end up in the PG salary formula (or the salary formula tweaks are really odd), you don't need to really worry about HN being "expensive" because it's only expensive on the PG formula. For any other position, it's essentially free.

Yeah, I know. I was just adding it in case he didn't know, but I didn't make it clear enough.

You might wanna check out the training simulator to make a plan for his training. Check the link in my signature. Good looking draftee. Definitely go PF route with him. 1v1F is a good place to start. Then you might want to polish off his outside skills 'til they're where you want them to end up, since they train more slowly. Then address the ID before you go whole hog on the inside skills: IS/ID/RB (and SB if you like to be able to play zones effectively).

thanks for the advice everyone.

just one quick question about training the outside skills.
where is a good place to want them at? I'm not really sure how high is good enough. we talking 7ish for them, or we going double digits? I'd hate to waste training by over/under training his outside skills.

sorry to be a bother.

It's no bother. Honestly, it's all a matter of opinion, but I would target an OD of 9, passing of 10 or 11, and JS of 11 or 12. This is of course after you train some 1v1, target at least 6 or 7, if not 10 or so on driving. I haven't thrown him in a calculator, but this would be a long term plan, if you wanted to train him until he is 22 or 23, you could. Once you get all the outside skills you want, you would train him at C. Superstar potential can handle about 13-14 on all big skills with 10 or 11 JS (I'm looking at the PF formula). You definitely can make a great player with him given the starting skills and height.

edit: if you are feeling really patient, try OD of 10, passing about 14-15, and 11-12 JS. A big with good passing can be very hard to defend. If you're feeling really really patient, this member of the US NT is a tall superstar and still being trained: (14602057), but you would need a little luck to be on the high end of the Superstar potential.

I'm switching training to work on some inside skills for Head, and looking for opinions on which two I should train along with him.

Player 1
Age: 18
Height: 6'3" / 190 cm
Potential: allstar

Jump Shot: strong Jump Range: average
Outside Def.: inept Handling: average
Driving: strong Passing: mediocre
Inside Shot: pitiful Inside Def.: average
Rebounding: pitiful Shot Blocking: average
Total SP: 53

Player 2
Age: 19
Height: 6'7" / 201 cm
Potential: allstar

Jump Shot: proficient Jump Range: respectable
Outside Def.: atrocious Handling: strong
Driving: sensational Passing: average
Inside Shot: respectable Inside Def.: average
Rebounding: strong Shot Blocking: inept
Total SP: 68

Player 3
Age: 19
Height: 6'7" / 201 cm
Potential: star

Jump Shot: proficient Jump Range: average
Outside Def.: pitiful Handling: respectable
Driving: proficient Passing: average
Inside Shot: mediocre Inside Def.: respectable
Rebounding: proficient Shot Blocking: mediocre
Total SP: 65

I like #1 as he's a draftee, and a year younger, but it seems like it'll be difficult to train him efficiently alongside a 6'10 PF. Numbers 2&3 are similar players and will both benefit from what I'm training, even if #3 will cap first.

You probably want to go with Player 2 or 3, thought Player 2 has a terrible atrocious in OD, which would take weeks to fix. On the upside, he does have nice secondaries. Player 3 also has bad OD, but has good secondaries as well. I would probably pick Player 2.
