Persepolis Immortals vs Koopasaurus. Buy-ups have made both of these teams formidable, and whilst Koop looks to be better on paper, we have to remember that Persepolis have HCA for games 1 and 3. I'm leaning towards Koop however, because he has 3 top-tier Aussie players who have never won an ABBL championship.
Speaking of which, famous Aussie players in the finals; Hahi Bin Awang playing for Persepolis, Jone Bogan, Kye Duffill, and Jackson Mansfield playing for Koopasaurus.
After digging through the archives again, I can tell you that if Koopasaurus wins the title, they would be the first ever #4 seed to win an ABBL championship. Only twice before has a #4 seed made it through to the finals; Aussieroos in Season 4, and Koopasaurus themselves in Season 19. Both teams lost their respective finals series in 3.
On the other hand, if Persepolis Immortals win, they become the first team ever to win the championship in their first ever ABBL season. The closest that any team has gotten before now is winning in their 2nd season; achieved by CoolCats (Season 4), WA IS A DUMP (Season 6), and Pancakes with Jam and Cream (Season 11).
WA IS A DUMP has won Division II and the ABBL in consecutive seasons before (13 and 14), but the fact that they had already won an ABBL title before then perhaps takes something away from that achievement...
Here's some trivia; this is the worst combined regular season record for two finals teams in ABBL history (14-8 Immortals, 13-9 Koop, 27-17 combined). The previous record was Season 19, when 16-6 Lewisham Wombats defeated 12-10 Koopasaurus (28-16 combined). 12-10 remains the worst single-team regular season record to make the finals.
Also, Jackson Mansfield played 23 regular season games this season, as a result of Koop selling him to Jutland Badgers during the season (who chose to start him as soon as he got off the plane), only to buy him back 10 days later when Koop changed his mind about selling up for the season.
