Singapore starts off the campaign with a 113-94 win in their first game against Vietnam

Singapore is grouped with Taiwan, New Zealand, Nippon, Malaysia, Vietnam and Hanguk in Pool A for their season 23's challenge for Asia Championship Tournament. To the delight of the travelling supporters, Singapore starts off the campaign with a 113-94 win in their first game against Vietnam.

Who is Singapore's best inside player when F. Shuangxiang is out of the lineup? It was perhaps a surprise for the traveling fans to see V. Sharma start the game in PF and the 25 year-old debutant put in an assured performance with 22 points and 11 rebounds.

With F. Shuangxiang rumoured retirement, Y. Tse Hui was handed the captaincy role, and as usual, he led the team well with 27 points, 11 out of 16 for FG, 3 out 6 for 3FG and 2 out of 2 for FT. "I hope FSX will not retire, if not his experience and skills will be sorely missed", Tse Hui replied the press when asked about how he feel about FSX's rumoured retirement.

S. Qingxian put in 20 points to justify his selection over fellow club-mate and senior Y. Jing Sze. "Yap has always been my role model. "I am glad to be given the chance to start the game, hope my performance is good enough to keep my place in NT", Qingxian told the reporters.

133-98, Singapore secures second win against Hanguk

5 days after making a decision not to retire and signing for one of SBBL top club, Esplanade BC, F. Shuangxiang, at a age of 34 shows Singapore fans what they will be missing when he retires. Although he play for just 16 minutes as a substitute, he scores 19 points with 100% accuracy (8 out of 8 for FG, 1 out of 1 for 3FG and 2 out 2 for FT). "What a performance, I am so glad that he decides to play on at least for another season," a delighted Eric told the press.

Singapore controlled the game from start to finish the game with a comfortable 133-98 win against Hanguk. C. Park and J. Lee led Hanguk with 27 and 21 points respectively, but they couldn't over Singapore that has 5 players scoring 16 or more points, a great team display.

Singapore suffers 76-99 defeat to rival, Malaysia

Singapore fans were given false hope with 22-14 first quarter lead. Their happiness were short-lived with a poor 18-30 second quarter which the team never recovers from as they continues to play badly in the last two quarters.

As a team, Singapore shot 34% from the field and 21.7% from beyond the arc during their 76-99 defeat to Malaysia. Captain Y. Tse Hui was terrible for the night with 9-for-26 shooting effort from the field and1-for-5 beyond the arc. "We had more shots as compared to our opponents, if not for our poor shooting percentage, we should have won the game," a disappointed Eric responded to the press.

Malaysia fans were seen celebrating wildly for their nation's first win for the tournament. The national team led by G. Yunyong with 17 points has 6 players scoring 10 or more points.

SingaporeFC press release:

After Audi apologize to Sg NT Eric about his mistake managing the setup for previous cup game. Local NT players from SingaporeFC decide to meet the reporter towards Malaysia.

Summary of YJS, Sqx, ng huat, shar:
Despite losing to Malaysia in our recently NT match, but this dint demoralized us yet that motivate us even more. Even though some of us did not manage to play due to fatigue. but we are sure, the next time when we had a chance to face each other, the winner will be us Singapore!

"YJS captain of SingaporeFC also does mention about the luck Malaysia NT have and they are lucky to have farmer teams taking care most of their NT players. And took to chance to vent his anger, If both side facing full strength at same fitness level, Malaysia NT team are nothing, not worth a challenge for him as i have great pool of NT mate with me what does they have?!

Reporter: Can't wait to see Singapore playing against Malaysia NT team again!
