Having played for a full season now (or close to one), I found myself answering questions in the forum. I realized that I am no longer new to this game, and have a solid foundation on the direction I am heading.

I also realized that I'm not planning far enough ahead either. Currently I am focusing more on winning games, but I should be more worried about training the most players. I feel Div. I may be too competitive and cost me attendance money without the right crew, so do people feel it's wise to cut back and focus on staying in Div. II, but training and selling?

What are the takes on this by veterans and new players?

You should certainly try for DI if you can, as your current team could probably do okay (with some upgrading). Remember that you will get higher attendance and more TV money to upgrade your rosters and pick up some 18 year-old trainees. As such, you will likely be able to make more as a 5th or 6th place team in D1 than as a 1st place team in DII.

Of course, you should be picking up solid trainees as you can afford it, and they will quickly surpass your other players in skills.

I think I more or less agree with jbmcrock. If you feel right now you have to make a choice between going to D1 or getting your training in order, try to get to D1 and then sort out your training while raking in the D1 money, which is nice.

Not sure if you're coming from Hattrick, where promoting before you're "ready" can be a long-term disaster, but it doesn't seem to work that way here. A bad season in D1 is probably more profitable than a great season in D2. Which is how it should be, IMO.

Wow. I am coming over from Hattrick. I thought I'd get bombed in Div.I, but these suggestions have made me rethink. I do believe I have a good shot at Div.I this season. I picked up some good inside D, so I can focus on the outside game. I guess I better start building up some enthusiasm for a tough playoff run. Thanks guys!

Also keep in mind that unlike in Hattrick, you have 2 (and 3 with the cup) games a week in order to increase enthusiasm, so that you can beat the lower and mid-level teams with the superior enthusiasm (and the occasional crunch).
