How about giving a player bonus on the type of offenses that they play. I mean, the player is really good at run and gun and normal at playing motion. That way, coaches can get players according to the type of offense they play and not just the best player they can find. I am guessing that most players play the same offense and defense for the most part. I think you can agree that players are not good at all types of offenses, but some can play well in more than one type. I guess you can do that on defense too.

Isn't the player's ability to play a given offense determined by his skills? I don't really get what you're suggesting...

I mean a players ability(skill) is one thing, to use that ability in a given type of offense(like run and gun compared to motion) is another. You can imagine that a player is great at running and shooting long distance, but the offense calls for the player going inside(or even mid-range) for most of the plays. Some have the ability to do that, but most don't and not able to adjust even if they have a great set of skills. So even a player with a lower ability can play better if the offense(or defense) fits him.

This is a bad suggestion. This would create "use one tactic or suck badly" teams. Pointless suggestion imo.

I think it would be interesting... you have a team of 12 players with all different abilities, and you have to choose which "horse you´d like to ride"

Eventually it comes down to teams owning one tactic players. You have 4 starters suitable for run and gun. You would not buy an inside spec guy from TL now would you? Owning 5 different spec players as starters, makes you a lot weaker, than a team that has 5 starters suitable for one offence. Eventually it will create a distortion on the TL (if users lean on one offence more than others).

Well, it makes you easier to scout once your players all have the same special offense. I am switching lineups and offenses all the time to some degree, so I guess I´d try to get at least two different offense thingies going for my team.
Actually, if the bonus is small enough to not blast games but simply add a little (like .2 gameshape bonus in that very tactic) it could be quite fun.

Well, it doesn't have to be one tactic. It could be 2 or maybe up to 3 types of offenses that they are more suitable to. Not as much to take away from the game, but just a little bit more strategy to think about when you decide on the starter/backups and the type of offense you run. Imagine a player has one type of offense they are good at with a high level of ability and the other has 3 types of offenses with a lesser degree of ability. Who do you get and would that one be right for the team. As we all know, a group of superstars is not going to win a championship but getting the right pieces on your team is what makes you win.

but you need all player with the same combinations, or same two tacics in their profile.
Could you by that, i think that would be quite difficult. And you had to consider the strength already at a trainee stage, because with the skills player already are specialised to some tactics where they would perform better then with others.

It's kind of sounding like: "let's make player one play great on tuesday, player 2 on thursday, player 3 on saturday". You should play some players on a given day where they get a bonus. With your suggestion, you remove more strategy instead of gaining more tactical options. You would have one best strategy because of player suggested offence and rest would be suboptimal every time.
