As many of you know, from the season 14 U21 team, there were two main guards: C**** R***** and Ronald Trickle. Though my Peter Cox and smallfrie's Jonathon Yi are only 19 this season, they both think they will make Season 18's U21 squad, Cox as a Point Guard and Yi as a SG. And, there already has been rivalry discussions between the two, as they each want to be the "top" guard. So, to somewhat debut that, this Thursday, June 9th, at 8pm, there will be a scrimmage where Peter Cox will take on Jonathon Yi. Also, there will be a "Team Cox vs. Team Yi" little thing, where people can take sides with the player they like more. I don't even have to ask smallfrie to know what team he will be on, but I will edit this post as people name their sides. Anyway, here it is.

Team Cox (17736812):
Korey
Moflaffle
UTEPMiners
Shaquille
dawhitesox14
OSU
Mr. Walks-A-Lot

Team Yi (17743755):
Smallfrie
Eminence Front
Oriolekid
Stauder
Buckeyefan
Glugs
Oggagala

The other matchup was so easy to take sides. Trickle made CR look like a girl! Still does, always will....and Trickle's team is successful whereas CR can't even get to the playoffs.

This season I have no clue. Who's going to be better? I will align myself with the better player and jump whole heartily on the bandwagon baby!

Cox for sure. Yi is meant to be a scorer/shooter, yet only averages 2 points per game more than Cox, who is meant to be a passing type player. Cox also shoots a higher percentage. He does that well, as he gets 5.1 assists per game, while Yi gets only 1.3. Cox is also well rounded as he also gets 4.5 rebounds per game to Yi's 2.7. Cox's Assist to Turnover Ratio is 3.2, while Yi's is a lackluster 0.7. Some may make the argument that this is all because Yi is in a higher division, but, Cox and Yi have the same average player rating at 9.0. And to top it all off, Cox by far has the better name. Therefore, Peter Cox > Jonathon Yi.

Compelling argument. Smallfries, you going to sit there and take this from Cox lying down? ;)

I will say that D3 and D4 is quite a bit of difference...

True, but in this they actually are very close in terms of talent. I know the skills of Yi and will say that smallfries is creating a good player. However, I honestly think Cox is a better overall player. He doesn't have a real weak point in guard skills, while Yi does. Also, Cox has better secondaries. So, not even just saying this because he is my own player, but I think Cox is better overall. I will say this though, at least Yi can hit a free throw.

Thing is, we actually knew that Trickle and that other guy would be our best guards on that U21 team. We don't know about these two, they could be middle of the pack. If I was betting on a Season 18 U21 rivalry for guards I think I'd go with Tobe McCullough (17744572) vs Donnell Nichols (17739179) or something?

I have a feeling this is just more advertising for Korey ;)

Im just more worried about my team winning by too much so Yi gets yanked :p. Overall as Yi is a SG ive focused more on defense and will get shooting up next year. Ive decided to get his OD up to 15 by the end of this year so i can go all out with his weaknesses next season. And I am a firm believer that me being in D.III has a lot to do with him not having great numbers because I play him mostly at PG and ill just say my league is very strong for the guard position. Also Yi isnt even close to being my star player yet so he doesnt have quite as many opportunities to perform. Yi and Cox are both great players but in this matchup im gonna hope its not a blowout, team wise, so we can see a full game of the matchup. Its gonna be a great game between the two and Im just more excited to see how Yi stands against a good player in the same age group.

Sure, but for one, we know both of the owners are American. And two, smallfrie and I have discussed this in the past. We are fully aware they most likely will not be the best two guards on the team. However, we are doing this for fun anyway.

And no, not really advertisement.

not sure how you can say it's not at least a little advertisment...I don't see any other threads about scrimmages here.
