how exactly do reserves function? i kind of figured that a reserve was there if the starter got injured or fouled out or something, so when training, i always leave the back up slot empty to force the starter to play the whole game but put a reserve in just in case something happened to him. but it seems like a reserve is more like a 2nd back up? almost every game a starter is subbed out for a reserve. sometimes, i get it, like if its a tight game my coach might not trust my starter, but in the game im playing right now im blowing out the team, my starter only has one foul yet he was subbed out for the reserve a minute before half time. im thinking i should now start to leave my reserve slot empty? but is that the way it really works? its kind of frustrating constantly seeing players subbed out for reserves like this

just set your starter, backup and reserve as the same player. also make sure that there is no extra player in the roster which you didnt include in the depth chart. (that means dressing up 9 players if you are 1 pos training or 8 players if you are 2 pos training.) and ofc use strictly follow depth chart :)
