well guys season 4 is here and with it comes the expansion league "the fishbowl south" being new to the league the south hopes to excite , the fishbowl commissioner yoda von koopaberg was proud to cut the ribbon and get this league started.
on a more technical side of things leeroy and i will be sharing the mvp duties this season.
ok lets get into it.

also if anyone has a nickname they want the player called please put it in his quote on his player card

ROUND 1

Home Axis vs. Geelong Vipers 102 - 70

home axis's personal changes over the offseason has seen his team make a rather large leap forward this season and it showed in this game , the vipers tried hard but the damage was done early in this one with the axis's running away to a 15 point lead in the first quarter.

3 points - home axis - Patryk Urbanowicz -29 pts ,5 assists, 3 steals, 3 blocks
A real nice effort from axis's pg/sf here shooting at just over 50% and leading the game in scoring. Urban Patty as he likes to be called will most likely be a regular in the mvp department this season so keep your eyes on him folks.

2 points - home axis - Hélder Amatriain - 28 pts , 6 assists, 3 steals
in any other game this would be a 3 point mvp effort but not today, the "hitman" was on fire tonight shooting just under 50% and going 5/11 from the 3 point line.
after the game the hitman was seen talking with some very shady looking characters.

1 point - geelong vipers - Ace Dispo - 24 pts, 9 rebounds
A great effort from ace disco in this one , the guy let his moves go to work going an impressive 10/14 from the floor.
one to watch in future matches after showing his got the beats to rock this league.
after the game the vipers coach had this to say " it was a hard game tonight , we are so glad we had disco out there tonight , the boy showed some great moves"

Mangoloids vs. Maggots 87 - 41

wow didnt the mangoloids run away with this one, rumors flyed around the league about this one , did the maggots turn up to the game maggot ? where the mangoloids on some sort of mango steroid ? or was it just a case of the mango's being far to strong ?
maggots came into the game with the plan to play everything balanced while the mango's decided a inside iso with a 3-2 defense would be the way to go. with a 41-13 lead at half time no one would doubt the mango's got it right in this game.

3 points - mangoloids - Luke McCaskie - 17 pts, 4 assists, 4 steals , 5 off rebounds
a great game tonight for"the son" putting up one of the most balanced stat lines we are likely to see , just missing out on a double double doesnt dampen this appearance , in a run away game luke showed that his likely to be a regular in mvp points.

2 points - mangoloids - Sofronio Mabutol - 19 rebounds, 5 blocks
an amazing job defensively by sofronio showing that you can get on the mvp list with a great defense effort. if a shot went up tonight chances are sofronio was coming down with it.
the mangos coach had this to say " sofronio was our anchor tonight his leadership is worth so much on this team"

1 point - mangoloids - Eder Arbizu - 10 points, 15 rebounds - double double.
eder grabs the point tonight with his double double effort from the floor , shooting 50% from the floor and showing an impressive hussle to chase down the loose ball.

Brisbane Thunder vs. shepparton shooters 65 - 94

Another game another blow out , the shooters looked great in this one putting up an impressive 60% 3 point shooting rate going 6/10 over the course of the game. the big story in this game how ever was the physicality of the thunder boys giving up 24 fouls and sending the shooters to the line for an insane 34 shots.
the thunders boys looked more interested in fouling then getting after the missed shots being out rebounded 55 to 31.
this stat alone shows you why the shooters where able to run away with this one.

3 points - shepparton shooters - Cristian Prelazzi - 29 pts - 13 rebounds - 6 assists - double double

12/18 from the floor and 13 rebounds yer thats a 3 point mvp effort , then we add in the point guard effort 6 assists and no one is going to take the 3 points away from him. cristian was a man on a mission tonight looking to start off his season with a bang then man got out there and got it done.

2 points - shepparton shooters - Benjamin Journet - 21 pts - 7 rebounds - 7/8 free throws

ben "the journey" got it done tonight his slashing style play drawing alot of fouls and causing alot of mismatches which led to alot of points for his teammates.
the shooters coach had this to say " ben does alot of work of the ball, the kind of stuff that doesnt show up in the stat sheet , his the glue for our team our offense runs much better when his on"

1 point - sheppartion shooters - Junel Viojan -17 pts - 11 rebounds - double double

fouling out cost vio the 2 points this week but his effort while he was in gets him the 1 point this week posting an impressive double double and causing the opposite team headaches with his physical play.
vio was seen after the game hitting weights at the shooters gym.

Western Titans vs. Possum Chasers 89 - 84

the game of the round in the south , a close game the whole way with the possums having the lead for the majority of the game. the possums where impressive in the first half building a small lead , stamina seemed an issue in the second half though with the titans closing out the 3rd and 4th much more effectively.

3 points - western titans - Bento Filho - 21 pts, 10 rebounds - double double

bento was great tonight shooting well above 50% from the floor , bento led his team to victory tonight proving he will be a regular on the mvp boards. after the game bento was found at a local casino trying his luck at black jack.

2 points - possum chasers - Trinh Trinh - 17 points, 10 rebounds , 4 blocks - double double

TT was impressive despite his teams loss posting a double double that would be normally good enough for a 3 point place on the mvp chart, TT was a headache on the defensive end as well blocking 4 shots and altering many more.

1 point - western titans - Amadeusz Rempała - 10 points , 9 rebounds , 3 blocks - 16 mins

Rempala put his case forward for more court time after this impressive display almost posting a double double in just 16 mins , if that wasnt impressive enough rempala also blocked 3 shots. a clear 1 point mvp.
after the game the titans coach had this to say " remy proved to me tonight that he can be effective off the bench"

amos rogues vs. Eggplantpopolopolous 76 - 64

an interesting game here , a solid inside defensive team vs a solid inside offensive team .
both teams defenses went to work keeping the game low scoring with neither team shooting well .
the eggs kept it close in the first half going to the break only down by 2 , after the break the rogues showed how strong the could be defensively limiting the eggs to 10 points for the quarter while scoring 21 points them selves. the eggs rallied to take the fourth by 1 but in the end the rouges defense was too strong.

3 points - eggplantpopolopolous - Igotz Arranz - 30 rebounds , 12 off rebounds , 15 points - double double

wow just wow 30 rebounds...... ill say that again 30 rebounds . that there is enough to get you the mvp , simply put the only reason the eggs where able to keep up is this guys ability to hussle after those missed shot.
any way you look at it "igotz game" really has game.
after the game igotz seemed quite pissed off , something about missing onion rings

2 points - amos rouges - Dimitris Miriounis - 33 points, 7 rebounds , 2 blocks

shooting just below 50% dimi was a force to be reckoned with tonight , going 0-10 from 3 point however cost him the 3 point position . after the game dimi had this to say " im not happy with my game tonight i threw up some dumb shots , some really dumb shots"

1 point - amos rouges - Petar Zahariev - 13 points , 18 rebounds , 4 blocks - double double

he didnt shoot well but man did he defend 4 blocks and kept his opposite number at 4/16 add in his game on the defensive boards and youve got yourself the 1 point mvp.

Bainsynators plebs vs. Whompas Donkeys 72 - 83

another close game to finish off the round , the donkeys seemed to have the game early but the plebs came fighting back taking the 2nd and 3rd quarters. doing so seemed to take alot out of the plebs as they just couldnt keep up with the donkeys in the fourth being outscored 24-14 .

3 points - whompas donkeys - Jordi Monroig - 16 pts , 18 rebounds , 6 blocks - double double

another huge effort tonight for our 3 point mvp , jordi really showed what he can do on the court tonight shooting an impressive 50% , while pulling in every rebound that came near him. defensively he was just as good posting 6 block shots.
after the game jordi was found relaxing in a spa with 2 blondes.

2 points - bainsynators plebs - Gniewosz Sznajder - 26 pts , 5 assists

gnie was impressive on a losing team tonight , keeping his team in the game all night earned him the 2 point spot , shooting just under 50% gnie was lighting up the scoreboard all night long.

1 point - whompas donkeys -Ignacio Santana - 22 pts , 18 rebounds - double double

Iggy was great tonight posting a nice double double while helping his team take the win , if it wasnt for a few turn overs he most likely would have grabbed the 2 point mvp spot.

Well i have got the call up from the Overlord and have got the responsibility of handing out MVP votes for this week

Round 2

Home Axis vs Brisbane Thunder 125 - 74

Axis was ruthless once again crushing the Thunder in a game that was over very early. Axis's Full Court Press on defense squeezed the Thunders iso and picked the pocket of the the Thunder's players a whopping 27 times giving them 22 more shots and a spot up the top of the South table

3 votes - Home Axis - Irinel Stancu - 32 pts 14 rebs 4 asts 4 blks 2 stls

Urinal... sorry Irinel gets the clear 3 with an amazing shooting night 14-17 from his 48 minutes. Thats 82% folks! Considering the Axis side shot 50% as a team, which is still great, if Irinel has a horrid night and shoots 20% or worse this game gets a bit more interesting. Throw in 14 rebounds and 4 blocks his presence inside on defense was top notch. Game highs in points, rebounds and blocks. Expect to see Irinel in the votes in following weeks if this is what he is bringing.

2 votes - Home Axis - Ignacio Sánchez - 23 pts 9 rebs 3 asts 6 stls

The big men were dominant for Axis in this one with Sanchez also having an outstanding shooting night with 23 pts off 8-11 from the field. The 6 steals is a big reason in why he got the 2 here over some other players. For a big man this is impressive. What is even more impressive is Ignacio was part of the duo that made Outcasts top 5 vote getter to foul out in only 15 minutes. you have got to be doing something right.

1 vote - Home Axis - Hélder Amatriain - 28 pts 7 rebs 6 asts 6 stls

This is Helder's second mention in the mvp votes in 2 weeks. The 'hitman' looked as if he was playing poker out there. he saw the 28 pts 6 asts and 3 stls he put out last week and raised it some on the flop adding 3 steals and 7 rebounds. If only his teammates were playing worse he would have 6 votes right now not 3. The 12-25 was the reason he couldnt surpass Sanchez.

Eggplantpopolopolous vs Maggots 101 - 67

Eggplant was always going to win this one. another blowout, lets hope this isnt a trend for the Maggots. Maggots were looking for some balanced offense but with only good player on the court the result is no suprise. Eggplants winning all the meaningful stats makes it clear why it was 34 pts

3 votes - Eggplantpopolopolous - Gorka Baztarrika - 19 pts 17 rebs 3 asts 2 blks

shooting 7-13 with the double double is a nice outing however the defensive performance from Gorka gets him the 3. Keeping his opposing C to 0-9 and the 1 point in 41 minutes.

2 votes - Eggplantpopolopolous - Igotz Arranz - 20 pts 13 rebs 3 stls

Igotz 'igotz game' Arranz proves himself right by picking up more votes. He shot an almost perfect 8-9 and a perfect 4-4 from the line for his 20 pts. Like his partner in crime Gorka he played strong defensively but letting in 9 more points puts him just behind the spaniard... and not in that way leeroy

1 vote - Maggots - Christian Brakenhoff - 31 pts 10 rebs 4 asts

The only maggot to look anything like being a problem to the opposition with a game high 31 pts and 10 rebounds double double by shooting over 50% and keeping his opponent to a modest shooting night. About the only maggot you are likely to see in the votes this season. But unless the Maggots get some wins it will be unlikely he will pick up more that 2 or 1 votes a game

Western Titans vs Shepparton Shooters 68 - 52

Both teams trying to outsmart eachother got it wrong on defense but luckily enough for the Titans there firepower got them over the outclassed shooters. The 'Look Inside' and 3-2 tactics meant this one was always going to be one for the big guys offensively. It was a close game at the half with the Shooters holding a narrow lead at the half leading by 1. It certainly wasnt a shooting exhibition with the titans picking up the 16 point win of only 25 FGs. Titans suiting up 11 players 4 more than the shooters may have meant a fresher titans lineup in the second half, winning the 3rd 28-8.

Strong Titans win keeps them undefeated and looking good.

3 votes - Western Titans - Uditi Samdup - 31 pts 12-13 FT's 7 rebs 2 blks

Samdup certainly looked good in this one playing on the former U21 NT Junel Viojan and keeping him to 2-13. also bullying his way to the line and hitting 12 of his 31 there, while shooting his other 19 from over 50% shooting. A special notice should be that Samdup was the only player in the game to hit a 3pt shot and he did it in the rout in the 3rd. not often a C is the only player to find some range.

We spoke to Samdup after the game and all he has to say was 'i am Uditi 'standup' and thats what i do when it counts'

2 votes - Shepparton Shooters - Cristian Prelazzi - 14 pts 8 rebs 3 stls 5 blks

It was hard to split the two players for the 2 and 1 votes, so i expect to find myself in C-Cats office for this one. But Christian gets the nod in this one for mine due to his defensive exploits sending Titans players to the carpark all night with 5 blocks. 'Pretty Lazy' was anything but lazy with his hustle on the offensive end leaving him with 4 offensive rebounds on the night.

1 vote - Western Titans - Bento Filho - 14 pts 11 rebs 3 stls

The other Power forward in the debate for the 2 votes will have to be happy with the 1. scoring just as many points and picking up a couple more rebounds just didnt compensate for Prelazzi's extra effort for 3 blocks and the 4 offensive boards. Good game though by Bento, but was not as valuable as Samdup and Prelazzi to their teams.

We have a special statement here from Overlord Commissioner Leeroy

"We are considering placing a formal complaint with the federation's bosses over his conduct in today's game!" These were the words of Titans' Head Coach, Albert Romarsh after today's Fishbowl South game between the Western Titans and the shepparton shooters.

Players from both teams almost came to blows just 30 seconds into the 4th quarter after shooters star, Junel Viojan, was ejected from the game for a second flagrant foul on Uditi Samdup. Samdup was quickly up and unleashing a verbal attack on Viojan, while held back by his teammate Bento Filho. Viojan and Samdup, both former Australian u21 representatives then stared each down as teammates attempted to seperate the pair. Viojan's ejection from the game was welcomed by a round of applause from the Titans' bench, lead by Amadeusz Rempala, who is tonight sporting stitches above his eye following another aggressive defensive effort by Viojan which ended Rempala's night in the 1st quarter.

Uditi Samdup had this to say after the game, "Apart from not trusting Duffman with my missus, I have never had a problem with players in the fishbowl, and certainly have never clashed with anyone from the Calamari federation...until now."

Match of the Round

Mangoloids vs Possum Chasers 98-88

This was the closest contest of the night and bloody hell watching the grizzlies vs OKC scores right now... its insane. back to business. Two very strong teams smashing it out. Chasers lost touch just after the half and couldnt eat away the mango's lead. The possums just werent hungry enough to get the win.

3 votes - Mangoloids - Luke McCaskie - 27 pts 7 assists 6 rebounds

tough decision in this one. McCaskie had a great night but so did a few others. He was in the winning side and scored 7 more points than his teammate Arbizu with a shooting performance of 55%. Those seven points could have been the difference between the sides.

2 votes - Possum Chasers - Trinh Trinh - 25 pts 12 rebounds 9 assists

The triple double game eluded the U21 star, unable to find that last assist to put on his mantlepiece. Statswise TT was the player stuffing the statsheet the most. However the Possum's couldnt win so it is difficult to give him 3 votes when McCaskie also played a stellar match.

1 vote - Mangoloids - Eder Arbizu - 20 pts 9 rebounds 7 assists

great night for Eder with better overall stats than his fellow forward McCaskie unfortunate to get only 1 vote for his performance but as stated earlier in a game like this the 7 points were more valuable than Eder's 3 more defensive rebounds.
