Another year, another new crew....

The Big 8 adds:
FC Shocker - Been playing Buzzer Beater since season 3!!! Floating between midlevel DIII and higher DIV team most of his time. Has been down to DIV 4 times... and each time wound up in DIII again the next year... so he'll be tough. Appears to be centered around a core 3 of a SG, PG, and C who pull big numbers. Those three average well over 10 ratings, but the rest of the team appears to be high single digits. Definitely will present a challenge!

Springfield Juggernauts - Moving up after owning a DV league at 21-1 in their first full season. Lead by a scoring SG and what appears to be a fairly well rounded center (line from the decisive championship game... 19/30/9/4... had 6 20/20s last year). Most player averages between 6-8.

Hornets1214 - Also coming off a 21-1 DV championship. Looks like a pretty equally rounded team that scored quite high. Player averages mostly in the 4-6 category... so we'll see how the uptempo game translates to our more competitive league.

And out here in the Great 8:
Legend Killers - DV team that took a 19-3 second place finish division finish and ran through the playoffs into our league. PG and SG are the two top players, though the entire 9 man roster seems to be fairly well-rounded. Player averages were usually between 7-9 last year in their league.

Death Valley - Came through the DV playoffs after going just 14-8... but that's deceptive, he started the year 5-8! Plays a lot of inside game, but strongest player looks to be a PG perhaps based upon ratings. Defense became shutdown last year. Looks like most player averages are 6-8ish.

I'd venture a guess that things will continue to slant towards the Big 8 controlling our Great 8 this year, with such a deep crew coming down and already such strong play. After looking through our new group, I'm feeling like this could be my year, but I've said that before. Still have Oakey, Rebels, and 420 to deal with as usual, and you guys are no slouches. And the new crew... well, I certainly underjudged Rebels coming up last year... you honestly owned us, dude... so I won't be so brash this year!

Wish you guys all the best this year, looking forward to it!

thanks for the scouting report :)
saved me some time.

As for this season... eh, my current typical weekly income is -$34,879 (i did screw up my arena prices last period...), and ive got less than 300k in my reserves, so i might need to figure something out / make some moves so i dont go bankrupt...

Spending 10k a week on scouting last season was a complete waste... All three of my draftees are "fire-worthy."

So welcome to all the new teams, and good luck everybody!

P.S. You're my new rival :)

Welcome to all the new teams. We will be competitive, but still do not have the money or studs we need to go to Div. III yet.

It seems like the draft has gotten harder or something... I spent 20-30k a week, and got fairly likewise. One or two might make fringe.

I'm at the peak of my optimized period... all my stars are mid 20s, and income is just starting to decline to near 0. But it hasn't been nearly good enough the past couple years. If you're weak, maybe this actually is indeed my chance to hit the title game at least, and then hope for a good outcome.

Anyways, no problem. I found similar threads in a league from one of our old IV.22 members who moved up, and thought it might be good to have here.

Hope your season is a bright one :-)

Is it just me, or are the rivals messed up? In our conference, two teams have Oakley, two have Orlando, and two have Springfield as rivals. (Nobody has me as a rival)
Is this normal?

Interesting you'd notice that, I just had late last season. I think I had 3 last year if I remember correctly.

I don't know, I think it fits with teams who have been around a while and developed matchups. Me and Oakley have played for 4 straight years in the playoffs, and I also (though I may be biased) do see us as having one of the stronger rivalries too Rebs.
A poll of the other division shows 2 Illini, 2 Bucks, 2 Darts.
I tend to think it sets teams that have been around a while in the league and fairly evenly matched to yours as your rival. Playoff matchups probably help too.

Honestly, is it such a bad thing that no one has a rival???
You don't get quite as many teams gunning for you... on the road... :-)

Yeah, I would prefer nobody has me as a rival :) but it seems kinda unfair?

Well you're holding your own these days, it'll be interesting to see how things evolve down there, especially with Hornets just making a buy.

I'm more perplexed/interested in the Cup games. Either our league is abnormally good, or we have a strange run of "luck". You got the Illini axe this year... after I did last year. And now Rebels and FC meet this week!?! Craziness.
But I'm glad at least to note that I have a good shot of finally making it beyond round 4 again for the first time in a while.
I'll probably draw Illini again next round :-p

yeah now that ive played everyone in my conference once im glad to see where i stand isnt as bleak as it seemed at first
i had a really tough early schedule and am now looking forward to testing the other conference getting to play what seems to be a good even match with springfield five

i think my team should be good enough to not get relegated but it will be some time untill i can compete in the playoffs with you guys
