I don't think it is 2-4x better, but your players do perform better when their game shape is higher and your team will play more effectively when its enthusiasm is higher.
The optimum for improving game shape is around 60 minutes. People say 75 minutes but I have found that players who constantly play over 70 minutes do not keep their game shape at 9 as well as player who play 60-65 week in and week out.
Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.
