Canada U21 - Season 13

After an excellent run in season 12, the Canadian U21 team will be playing in the world championships in season 13. At the start of the new season, the U21 is ranked 12th in the world; a big jump from 26th (the rank we started with in season 12). As mentioned in other places, we're also looking at a pretty good roster for season 13. The player pool isn't as good in some areas as it was in season 12, but in many areas, the players are stronger, and the overall salary level of the candidates for spots on the team is higher.

Before the world championships start, there will be 3 weeks of scrimmage action (for the teams that have already qualified for worlds), while the second chance qualifiers are played (where 4 additional spots for worlds will be determined). These scrimmage weeks will give us a chance to run out our new team and experiment a bit, while also maintaining roster flexibility for a few extra weeks (to help determine which players should make the team this season). This week, a training camp will be held, from which a "skeleton crew" of around 8 players will be selected. They will our scrimmage force for the early weeks. Right before the world championships begin, the roster will be expanded up to 11 or 12 players, and then additions will be made throughout the season as needed.

The U21 will also be involved in saving quality prospects from retirement. Last season, both the NT and U21 used 3 permanent roster spots for player saving during the season, which I think was worthwhile. Looking ahead, I plan to work with the new NT manager, and am willing to save a similar number of prospects this season, although the details of this are still to be determined. Also, opportunities to save large groups of prospects, when the timing is right, are also being explored currently.

Like last season, this thread will be used to highlight the progress of the U21 throughout the season, and to regularly direct everyone's attention to the BB Canada off-site forum for more details: http://bbcanada.forumotion.com. GM-RiP (24916) is the one who handles invites to join this forum. Yep the U21 was amazing last year :). I'll try to keep a closer track on both U21 and NT :). I barely commented in the off-site forums. Hopefully I can go on the computer more often >.<.

One thing I loved to read was both RiP's and Mogul's game plans and what they had to say. And then after the game was done, both would write up an analysis :). And also the player's stats since I have to look what i need to get Dupre to the U21 and maybe even NT. :)

Season 13 started off with an allstar game level of intensity in our scrimmage against Poland U21. Poland has a very talented roster, and I was happy to see us come away with a 126-117 win. Both teams had around 1 for enthusiasm, which drastically reduces defense in particular (enthusiasm drops on national teams every time you remove a player from the roster, and lots of players were added and removed recently for scouting purposes).

The next two weeks, there will be more scrimmages for us, as we wait for the repechage tournament to play out (it will determine the last 4 teams that will make the world championships). The roster will likely be held down to 9 actual players for the scrimmages, to maintain some extra flexibility for when the games start to count.

This week the U21 will be playing a scrimmage against the Phillipines (one of the teams that also will be in the world championships, when it starts up in a few weeks). I arranged to play the game in Canada, so game time will be at 7:00 PM EST, on Monday, July 12.

There is one scrimmage week left before the games that count start. The world championships are going to be in Lieutva this season, and to get things going a bit early, our last scrimmage will be played in Lieutva against the United States U21. This means that game time will be at 10:30 AM EST, on Monday, July 19. That will be the game time for the whole upcoming tournament, and hopefully this scrimmage will help provide everyone with some advance notice about the game time issue.

There is alot more to a U21 player than salary. With that said I cant see your players attributes, but with his potential and size he appears interesting. Care to share his build??

I'd say join the offsite forum and then share his build LOL. Just an idea.

Agreed. I was simply asking to see if he did want to share his bild info. Even just knowing a few skills is helpful in evaluating players with high salary.

I think I went on record saying that Cashmore would never play for any team of mine, no matter what his salary. Not surprised that The Mogul has left him out.
