Could someone give some insight into how this tactic works in the game engine? What stats are important for which position etc. I reckon driving is a key skill here - but for which positions exactly?

Passing is very important for your Guards and Small Forward.
Inside Shot is important for your Guards and Small Forward.
Driving can be useful for your Guards and Small Forward if they also have high Inside Shot.
Inside Shot is very very very important for your Power Forward and Center.

I tottaly agree with what Virus commented.
- Passing for your Guards and SF is very important. They' ll try to pass the ball inside (the better the pass, the better the shots taken from your Big Men)
- Driving and Inside Shot is very important for your Guards and SF, too. They will also try to take an inside shot themselves (the better the Drive, the better the shot they take / the better Inside Scoring ability, the better the percentage of these shots)
- Finally, the better the Inside Shot of your Big Men, the better they perform. PF will take the most shots so choose your best Inside Scorer at this position (Jump Shot is not important at all because Look Inside is an Inside-Focused tactic). Many shots will take you C, too.

Thanks for the response guys. About the last point, are you saying the PF and C don't need jumpshot at all? That doesn't sound right..

And I thought Low Post was the tactic where the inside shot of PF and C was most important - is it that important here as well?

Also, since passing is so important, what kind of passes are most common with this tactic? Is it more pass inside to big man or drive and kick out for 3 point shooters?

Low post is similar to look inside. The main difference being that in low post, the guards won't take as many shots so the guards and small forward need better passing to pass to the PF and C but don't need as good IS as they won't be taking many IS.

The passing will be to try and pass to the PF or C, not to drive and take a 3 pointer, unless their OD is too good and you can't pass the ball through.

95% of the shots they take are inside shots, so, yes, I think Jump Shot is unecessary.

Your Guards and SF will either pass inside or drive and shoot. They won't split the ball out.

in general you would need a team that could win with any other tactic. then you can safely play look inside.

I think jumpshot is crucial for the powerforward in Look Inside (and probably helpful for the centre). If you actually look at a game where a team plays look inside you'll notice the powerforward taking a lot of short and mid-range jumpers. (I suspect that it happens when he can't beat his man off the dribble to get closer inside, but that is an unsubstantiated guess) It's somewhat unclear as to whether or not inside shot matters at all for short range jump shots, but it's likely that jumpshot plays a central role in determining if the shot goes in (it may be the main or even only attribute that matters on those shots).

So yes, JS matters for PF in a look inside and low post offense. Particularly at lower levels I don't think you need super high jumpshot because opposing players will have low OD, but I think you need decent jumpshot on a PF to run inside offenses.

So apart from the PF's jumpshot ability being required or not I understand most other things.

The one time I did play look inside I saw the SF being very involved, but I didn't pay heed to that because that was just one game. Now reading what Smedlock said, I think I'll go back to that game and see what happened for more insight.

Initially before this thread I thought the look inside tactic would also give me some good looks from 3 point land. That the action would unfold with my guard/forward driving, making the defence collapse and leave my spot up shooters to shoot uncontested 3s. I was hoping thats more the kind of passes that would be made. Like how Orlando and Phoenix run their offence at times. Seems there's no tactic that provides this kind of action - or should I look at Princeton for this type of play?
