Does defensive matchups have any effect when playing a zone-based defense?

Or, somewhat related: when playing a zone, are individual attack matchups totally random or game gives some advantage to any of players?

that is a tricky question.

the engine bases its calculations on the whole team
but takes the majority of it from the individual match ups
so a SG with good OD def will be more effective guarding the opponents SG.
its not sure how the engine exactly opperates .
but there is a high probability that the engine considers the individual match up as a priority
and rounding off the rest of the team based on the tactics 2nd to that.

he takes the defensiv part in the Zone, so if you let defend your point guard defend the opposing center and play a 2-3 Zone he is defending under the basket and not the perimeter

Thank you. It does make sense. I realize it's a new feature, but I suppose that officials should tell something about it in the game rules.

In that case, I suppose that SG and SF would defend perimeter, and PF, C and PG under the basket?

In my particular case, I'm more interested in more "subtle" differences. For example, my opponent has PG with great JS/JR and I have a SF with a better OD than others. If I want to play 3-2 zone with [SF guards PG] defensive matchup, would it have any difference compared to 3-2 zone without special matchup orders.

Or, with 3-2 zone and without matchup orders, would SG guard opponent's SG more often in a long term?

in a default 3-2 zone the main equation for guarding the opponents PG
will be taken mainly from you're PG's OD.so if you're oppenent's PG
is his main offensive weapon and you're SF is youre best outside defender
matching them up on the defensive end will result to a better defense
against the opponents PG.

but i won't think it is like that, normal is it about shooting psositions. If you play a Zone with a weak spot(like two OD 10 Guards and a OD 6 SF), all opponent shooters will take "a lot"(in comparision to the other outside defenders) of shots against him. it is not so extreme, and i don't know if it is skill a bit amtch up based, but i am pretty sure that it isn't a intelligent match up.
