I was watching the market closely since draft was done for 18 years old Guards.. I saw a Huge difference between the bids on players that have height 6'0 and those with same skills and have 6'3 height.. "superstar potential or higher"

6'0 players with the sort of skills i am looking for was priced always between 1.5M-2.0M while those who have 6'3 height was always priced between as low as 550k and 1.2M maximum..

what i want to ask is if the height really worth all that difference in price? and how much difference this height difference will exactly make in one season trainning (14weeks) ? and which outside skills is affected more by height than others?

my second question is: which inside skills is needed most by a PG or SG? please give all 4 inside skills a weighting if you have any idea.. because this helps alot when purchasing a guard since i wont be able to train those skills when i buy a guard...

its amazing how many posts u answer incorrectly.
the height does make a difference and could be the deciding factor in getting a player into a 21's team.

for the second part:

1 inside shot= useful if using an inside tactic with high driving skill
2 inside def= great to have as def wins championships , useful in closing down inside scoring pg/sg's
3 shot blocking= very useful , not only for getting shot blocks but because it alters shots thus lowering the % a shot will hit. which is great against good 3 point shooting teams.
4 rebounding= good in that not many gaurds have high rebounding so you may grab a small advantage here.

i think if the price difference that high as you said, you could go for bigger one because you don't loose much training through it - but you will train them long.

Insideskills:

Rebounding: Something every player could use, and also the guards

Blocking: Guards seem to block relativ much shots with low skills, and it's nearly for free(salary)

Inside Defence: Could be rated higher, some managers i know are big fans of it but i don't think it have much effect

Inside Shot: Seems pretty useless, get JS/DR instead

im not attacking you, im letting you know your giving people the wrong information and this can RUIN there teams so you need to be sure you know what your talking about BEFORE you post. in the last 2 days (im new) ive read a huge amount of topics in these forums and in alot more then 3 posts you are completely wrong and countless other managers and gm's have told you so , yet you dont listen, you need to understand that people will listen to the info you give them like it is fact, and it will wreck there teams and they will stop playing thus limiting the growth of this game.

im sorry you see this as a personal attack which i dont mean it to be, you have made some good posts for example your thread on teams aims for this season is perfect , and a great thread to have open, where as your reply in this thread isnt so good. i hope you can see the difference.

i can tell you are just trying to help, so id just like to say make sure your 100% sure before you reply, or atleast say at the beginning and end of your post that your not 100% sure that what your saying is fact.

Well..maybe it was just the day you looked. Height, most of the time, for guards doesn't affect their prices. The potential, and their skills determine it. A 6'0 guard would train A LITTLE bit faster than a 6'3 guard, so maybe that could be the case. Try looking again without the potential, but some of the skills you want your guards to have.

And, to the second question, here are the ones I prefer.

Inside Shot - It CAN be trained, but usually doesn't. If you do train it your guard will make more shots inside-the-arc.
Rebounding - Not needed. PF/SF/C should be the only ones with over strong rebounding, unless your players come to you with this.
Shot Blocking - Not needed at all for Guards.
Inside Def - Not needed much, since guards stay near 3 point line.

Think if the opponent drive in and we use man2man defense, the guard ID will be used.
I would think to get at least level 4 of guard ID

Me too actually. I have spend for my guards 2.8M(b4 the change of the economy, now worth at very least 1M+) and for the 2nd 4.2M. They both have pitiful on IS/ID, but the 1st was MVP in CBBA last season, key factor for 1 championship and 1 cup. I really dont see the need to have those big men skills. For the rebounding/interior D i have my big men. Yes every skill that a player have is usefull, but u cant have it all, and for sure doesnt worth to over pay for those.

What i think that is a must for every player: Able to shoot, play D, and pass, everything else is welcomed, but not essential. Thats my opinion

in man to man def if the guard drives inside the defending guards def comes into play.

i did not list them in the order i favor them i just listed why there are useful on a gaurd.

and crazy while you may agree with shaq more, him saying skills are not needed is still completely wrong and so is that a small gaurd only trains a little quicker.

in man to man def gaurds dont stay near the 3 pt line so inside def IS needed.

shot blocking is an extremely useful in reducing 3pts made by other team so is very helpful.

reboundins as i said does help out a bit so again isnt useless

inside shot helps when the gaurd drives it in close, but alot of times his jump shot will come into play first
so this leads me to believe it to be the lesser of the skills to worry about.

Well i never said that having a skill is a problem, but a guard having inside skills is not for me a factor to overpay a player thats for sure. I will take 13 on OD and 2 on ID for my guard against the 11-4. Even of me that i play inside tactics on 85% of my games my player Hansbernd Leberecht who has 2 on IS playing PG end up with 19.4 points per game 48.3 on shooting 39.1% on 3's. 3.6 rebs. My team was top4 rebounding team on my league too. Do u see any real reason for me to ask for a G with higher rebounding? or IS? i dont think so.

If we are talking about SF's is an other story, but still even those the elite teams have specialized, depending on there tactics that are using, so yes i tend to agree more with shaq than u
