Utlimately it shoudd be a $$$ decision for the BBs about what is the best for their business and making money.

BINGO!!!

Now why not let them make their decision and live with it.

Don't be offended please, but that's not very intelligent. It's like saying why not let your parents decide what you eat every day, even though you have your own apartment, kitchen, etc. ...

No offense taken, but your analogy misses its mark. One is not one's parents' property. This game IS property of its owners (the BB's I suppose). You can agree with someone else's sky-is-falling attitude, but you'll have to defend it better than that.

in general, i don't really mind the whole BB Concept.
however you are right that perhaps i did not use the best analogy. the fact at matter. BB has a lot of awesome stuff, it has the viewer, which i have to b honest, it was one of the things that got me hooked when i first started. Then it has the whole training philosophy which has a lot of perks. i don't want to come out as a person who has negative attitude towards BB. I respect and love what they do.

the idea is that, like any company, they are facing change. and love it or not they need to make a timed decision. do it too soon and it may be a mistake. do it too late and it ruins you. pakistan is just one of the "tips of the iceberg" and it may be that it was caused by a delay in the BB decision. you could argue it, yes, but the reason why this thread exists is why do micronations suffer like that and can we prevent it? or even improve it. my personal issue is that they asked us what we want and they ignored the answer.

Fair enough, but I have a question. You say,
my personal issue is that they asked us what we want and they ignored the answer.

It seems to me that perpete has examined and addressed every workable suggestion for pros and cons. What workable answer do you think they are ignoring?

I figured the reason BBs don't want the app (at least one of the reasons) was that it would lead to uncontrollable cheating.

So you've figured nothing. The reason BB don't have app is really trivial - lack of money do create it.

So what was the Utopia cash grab used for?

Thats more than enough to get an app done...

Tbh. I think the App should be introduced after some minor changes are introduced - so maybe in 2017 or so...

When Marin first talked about second team it was long discussed as second team to be part of micronations, then all of the sudden they went for Utopia in an instant.
However, I did not say i had the absolute truth, and that one may have been more workable than the other. That, we cannot know, at least not so easily. Does not matter much now, but still would love to see how they will improve the game.

Yeah but in that case the people vocally opposing the second team in a location of preference were people from small nations (probably a small minority of them, but this was never assessed). With the first team in the main nation checks for GMs shouldn't be too hard, so giving us both Utopia and the possibility to move the second team in a smaller nation could have still been done. I think a lot of managers would still choose to go in Utopia, but others would go into micronations, and in micronations, 5-10 competing extra users might make a significant difference for the game to be more enjoyable.

For me, this is exactly what would make me happy.

This both excites me and worries me. IF it were limited - as you appear to be suggesting - to 5-10 extra users, I could go with that.
An influx of that size wouldn't water down the nation to being what would amount to Utopia.2 - but more than that would start to shift the balance towards being a league with no real national identity (cue someone to discuss the hypocrisy of a non-Japanese person speaking about identity... but we DO identify with Japan!).
