Capitals Announce Signing of Protasio Díaz

RALEIGH - Early Wednesday evening the Raleigh Capitals finalized a deal with Mexican center Protasio Díaz. The financial aspects of the deal have not been shared with the public but team officials have stated that Díaz will have the highest weekly salary of any player in the team's history.

Díaz is a 4-time Allstar and has been touted as a highly skilled player since playing on the Mexican U21 National team. He joins the Capitals coming off a season averaging 11.2 PTS and 11.8 REB per game in Deutschland League III.5.

"We are extremely excited to add Protasio to the mix" said CapsGM. "He will bring the added veteran presence and skill set we need in the post".

Díaz will wear #44 for the Raleigh Capitals, the number worn by his childhood idol, NC State's David Thompson.
