Last season saw our struggles against a stout schedule. But overall we made progress. Most of the stalwarts have moved on however so once again the process moves along. Afrobasket 50 is on home soil, for what thats worth. We are a little soft overall but there is enough talent to compete for a medal, and you never know if we might see some breakthroughs as the season progresses. of course i will be on the lookout for players in the pipeline who are reasy to be called up, but for the moment we look to be set. if you have someone i have overlooked who you feel is worthy of a callup let me know.
heres how everyone looks so far
Siphiwe Mamoepa: without a doubt the straw that will stir the drink this season. Dropped 50 against Tunisia in our friendly last week. Took 54 shots to get there, but thats ok! I expect his club manager to keep pounding js/jr and some od, some IS and ha/dr would make him more effective overall.
Bobo Makana: saw a OD pop this week, excellent ha/dr, i look for him to round into shape as the season goes on.
Mswati Makhanya: od, ha, dr are all in good shape. lets see where he can improve, by seasons end he could be a secret weapon.
Kopano Mase: excellent ID, gives us a defensive presence down low. still needs a lot of work in a lot of places but hes not too bad.
Steve Johnson: shpuld of could of would of, yeah hes still on the squad but has been a disappointment.
Momar Phatudi: could have real potential being only 19, is on the TL but at way too high a price.
Uuka Jaga: another guy who could have developed into a force
Abe Fritsma: needs a lot of work yet but he is coming along
Umi Mugabe: could develop into a inside force, had a rebounding pop this week
Julius Young: yet another guy who shoukd be on the road to being a quality player but who is not.
Ketumile Tshuma: mifht not be a lot in this guy but we'll see
this week we open with Nigeria, and they are looking actually pretty good!!! We will have our hands full! So it might be a early loss on the ledger, but we will see.
