I'm trying to understand how an offense tactic such as 'inside isolation' works (or outside, anyway). The manual says that the "best inside scorer" is kind of given space to try a shot. But does this mean that the ball always goes to the same guy that has the highest IS? If so, the key skills are going to be IS, but also Driving?

When I played outside iso (90485611), my stretch four took the most shots (probably the best matchup), and my sharpshooting guard took the second most shots. Combined, they took about half of my team's total shots.

IS might determine who gets isolated but it does not necessarily determine shot type. It's a balanced offense not an inside offense so if you want that iso guy to score he's going to need DR and JS/JR too. If the guy getting isoed is a big and he doesn't have a bunch of JS/JR to go with DR/IS you probably need to a bunch of HA/PA or you will have probably getting quality of shots.

I am pretty sure that the Isos do not look for a matchup like PTB/BO/Patient. Important that you have the skills to play it successfully.

Phyr, so if we talk about outside isolation, so my whole team is looking for guard with best DR/JS/JR/IS ? So that means that 4/5 players have to have high PA+HA ?
And if we talk about inside isolation, then whole teams is looking for BIG with best DR/JS/JR/IS ? And again 4/5 with high PA+HA?
That's how it works? So it's basically used when a team has 1 player that is super offensive and much better than his teammates? Like James in CAVS before he went to Heats ? :D
Or this tactic work like the isolated player has the ball most of the time and he decides if he pass it and create shot for other or just finish the rim by himself.? Then, for example, if my SG is a beast, pg role is not that important as actually he is not a playmaker anymore?

That's what I'm guessing, as well? There is only one guy in your starting line-up that is a beast (in relative terms, compared to the rest of your team); so this guy gets 90% of the possession?

My guess is that Outside Iso has the highest JS/JR guy is the one isoed and the Inside is the highest IS. This does not mean that he will shoot the ball like in patient but the offense is run through that player rather than the PG like in most offenses. IMHO, this is not a great offense if you just have one super great player that you want to take alot of shots. I do think the player isoed needs great flow so if they do not find there shot, they create a kick out shot for a teammate. Everyone needs balanced amounts of JS/JR/DR/IS for their position to score.

So that means that the isoed player needs PA and HA also. He is the playmaker but also the scorer? And other 4/5 players still need JS/DR/IS/JR.. So when should I use ISO then? When i have a player that is 2x or more better than my other 4/5 players , he is balanced and i want him to run the defense?
OR
maybe I should use this one when i have a balanced player who is a both good shooter and has a good offensive flow , and other 4/5 players that a different between each other so i cant just go outside or inside based offensive tactics..
Still i can't get what kind of teams should use ISO to play good and use all great things of this tactic.. Because definatly this one is not for teams that have a balanced roster

I think you need a special player with flow and IS (for inside iso) or JS/JR (for outside iso) but besides that the shot breakdown by shot type and position is not too different from Base Offense the way that most people play it.

I present this game. My starting bigs did not have high IS or DR, but have good HN/PA...it appears that they kicked the ball out to my guards who are good with IS (and my PF that I am training at PG)
