Is it against the rules to day trade?

If I feel that I purchased a player for a significant discount - and then wanted to see if I could sell him for significantly more on the market the same day are their any repercussions for doing that?

Part of it has to do with realism, you don't see basketball teams in real life buying a player at a cheap price on Monday and selling them for alot more on Tuesday. Flipping players to get rich quick is not really following supply and demand but exploiting inconsistencies in the market. This is suppose to be a basketball sim not the stock market.

You can definitely use supply and demand to make a profit though but you have to do it over long period of time. Most people agree that the playoffs are the best time to buy players since demand for players is lower and people that don't make the playoffs/lose in the playoffs increase the supply of players. The best time to sell a couple weeks before the end of the season, as the supply of quality players are usually lower and the demand for that players are high with teams looking for that player to help them on their playoff run or win a relegation series.

is this really the case if everyone buys and sells during those times? you would think that would normalize

It's not so much trading as abusing noobs/newbies/irregular players that is looked down upon.

There is nothing shameful about knowing the market and using it to your advantage. But most profitable transfers(were) the ones where you buy players at 1k, sell them for 100k.

Everyone is not buying and selling during these times because of the nature of the game. For example, half the teams in each league make the playoffs. If I am making a playoff run, I am not going to be selling my core players that I need to make a playoff run nor will I be buying players during the playoffs. So this means demand will be high for players at the end of the season, while supply is low and during the playoffs demand will be low since not all teams will be looking to buy players.

but if this is a known fact, then that market inefficiency should not exist

What you lose on price of purchase late in the season, you save on paying the salary for the rest of the season. 11 weeks of a gun C/PF salary is worth waiting on if you don't need it until playoffs. That's where the imbalance is created.

I don't really understand that logic.

Supermarkets sell out of chicken wings before the super bowl. Stores sell out of presents before Christmas. Just because it is a known fact doesn't mean that market inefficiency will not exist.

As I said in my previous post there are certain market conditions that exist during these time periods that don't exist at other times during the season.
