Hi,

I'm playing around with the idea of an offense only kind of player that could be used effectivly for example in a Patient or Isolation offense.

I would imagine a build like the following: http://i.imgur.com/FfFJwyg.png (or better given higher potential + very good starting skills)

This will, of course, not work against all types of defense. However, I could imagine that it breaks a man to man defense quite well if the assigned defender is not capable of defending both perimeter and inside. That should be the case against many teams.

Has anyone ever tried or seen a build like that?

I think 15 passing is too much. I would rather have 14 OD and 13 Passing and 8 SB.

He still has to be able to defend somewhere, whether that be at PG or SF or somewhere else. I also don't think you need 16 JR. A player with 13-14 JR would be fine and you could move more skills elsewhere. I also agree about the Passing that Sparky said. Maybe -2 JR, -3 PAS and add some more defensive skillpoints, and I would love him.

Something like this:

My line of thought is this:

I probably don't need 4 very good defenders because few teams have 5 good offense options. Most of the time I can predict at least one player that I can guard with this guy and it will not lead into desaster. On the top level of competition this will usually not be true. However, at that level you will often have more than 125 TSP available.
More defense (especially OD) will also make him much more expensive soon.

On offense, I want him to be effective everywhere on the court to abuse any kind of mismatch he has. Whether it be raining 3s all night or driving and scoring inside. Whatever the defender gives him, is fine. That's why I'd like to have high JR next to high DR and IS. 3s are worth 50% more than 2s after all.

Passing is imo important because this player might drive to the basket a lot and could create lots of easy dunks for teammates when help defense is used. Uncontested dunks are even better than driving layups, right?

I'd say at the top level specifically along with most D.II leagues, there is no incredibly weak offensive threat. My point is you don't need 16/16 to drain threes. 16/14 or 17/14 would be just fine, if not better in my opinion. The more defense that I added only raised his salary by 7k and he is no longer a weakling on defense, so I think it is beneficial. Passing is important but if he is a Me First player, he doesn't need 15 Passing, 12 would be fine, especially since there will only be a few times per game where that scenario that you stated will be used. I just think that OD is more important than PAS for this particular build. If he has higher potential, then I say go for it and add more passing!

Defense comes first.
JR doesn't have to be nearly as high as JS.

I love the outside skills of the player you've created, however I agree with Manon, Sparky and EBW, his defence is appalling and wouldn't cut it in your division. Regarding your comment about the having four good defenders, if teams scout well, they'll realise he's your weakness and exploit him too.

I'd do very similar to the others, -3 PA, -2 SB, -1 JR and +1 ID and +5 OD, now for me, he is a better looking player who will be a scoring machine but can also do a job defensively.

If that's the case, then remove an OD and a PA, that'll decrease the salary somewhat, not sure by how much.
