look, refrain from buying players who cost too much (in terms of acquisition or salary). 100k salary is not a good idea at your level. Neither is 50k. 20k and below should be your target.
The 2 top teams in the red conference are pretty good teams for your level. I doubt you can leapfrog them by the end of the season and they will play the finals at home. The difference at the moment is like 80 (you) and 120 (them). Even if you buy a great shooter and play patient it won't be enough.
So you will have to remain calm and build for the future:
PG: maybe keep that 36yo but he won't help you for long. Get someone with these skills in order of importance: OD>PA>HA>JR. Even someone like this guy could help you:
(22595181)SG: ideally, compared to the PG, you will want to have someone with some shooting while sacrificing handling or passing or both. Someone like this is too expensive but he would be good in D3:
(20964855)SF: now this is fairly straightforward: most possible skills in OD/ID/PA/JS/IS/RB. You're looking at players like
(26605508) or
(32646055)PF/C: Get one guy who can defend and the other who can shoot. This could be your D guy
(35739057) and this could be your O guy
(30738192) or
(24862428). Then you will have to be able to play either at PF/C and leave or switch defensive assignments to maximise their effectiveness in the matchups.
As you can see there is no such thing as a free lunch. These players all cost money. You can hunt for bargains or accept 33yo players if that's the only piece missing. That starting 5 would be give you a fighting chance. You obviously won't get there straight away, so buy someone you can slide into the backup slot.
