Hi everybody

As it has been long discussed, it is a fact that the numbers in BB have been dropping over a considerable period of time, and it is probable that although some experienced players may have left, few newbies remain in the long term. Perhaps it's because BB is a slow-paced, long-term strategy manager, or perhaps it's simply because they find it hard to gather all the information they need to succeed in a game which (thanks to the BBs) is evolving every season.

Also, it has been widely proved that mentorship threads have achieved a good success rate in many countries. In Spain (where I currently help two newbies myself) it works very well, and I know in USA and France similar models are in operation. But let's think outside the box: unless you belong to these big communities, the odds you check these national forums are reduced. That is precisely the reason behind this idea: Why not setting up an International Mentorship Programme? Newbies from every country will come to this forum seeking help at first, and although there are many guides and lots of information available, sometimes having a human side behind, someone who can answer a particular question or just give sensible advise before mistakes are made can boost your interest and motivation to remain here.

So that's it, basically. Everyone who is already experienced in the game can come here to become a mentor; and every newbie can come here to ask for a mentor to support him/her in the beginning and settle the basics of his/her team. I think it's worth to give it a try: if it works, you can contribute to enhance the experience of many newbies and raise the chances for them to enjoy the game; if it doesn't work, at least we tried something about it.

Prospective mentors: You are very welcome to join the proposal provided that you have some time to spend with a newbie seeking help. You don't need to have played this game for more than 10 seasons; as long as you're able to manage your team efficiently and you understand the basics of the game, it's more than enough. Also, you don't need to be an expert in every aspect in BB: you may be specialised in training, or the TL, or arena expansion, or maybe you're knowledgeable in every aspect. Remember that help forums are still here, so you don't need to know about everything in BB, as other people will always be ready to help.

How to become a mentor: Please leave a reply in this thread and I will include you in the list in the next post.

Prospective newbies: Welcome to BB and thanks for reading this thread. If you need someone to help you, you've come to the right place! All we ask in return is three simple things: a motivation to do your best, a willigness to take on board the advise received, and a commitment not to leave the game in a few days. Please take into account that mentors are here giving away their free time to help others, something they do in a completely altruistic way.

How to ask for a mentor: All you need to do is contact one of the prospective mentors (please use the list provided in the next post) via BB-Mail.

Language: Please bear in mind that this is meant to be an International Mentorship Programme. This means that, unless English is already your native language or you are lucky enough to find a mentor/newbie who speaks the same language as you, you need to have a fluent communication in English and be familiar with the terminology BB uses.

Dear mentors: If you speak fluently any language other than English, please let me know. Otherwise I will assume you speak English and the language/s spoken in your team's country.

That's it. Thanks for reading this post and I hope you find what you're looking for. I really hope the wonderful BB Community will back this idea to see if we can make a valuable contribution. Thank you very much in advance!

Establishing the mentor-newbie contact:
-Newbies please BB-Mail one of them. Whenever possible, try to contact a person who has no or few newbies under their mentorship.
-Mentors (or newbies): It would be much appreciated if you could let me know who you will be helping once the communication has started. This is done in order to distribute the workload equally among all of us. Initially mentors may be asigned up to two newbies, but if you're ready to take more pupils (or less), just let me know as well.

Mentors List:

Whenever a mentor...
-Has an asterisk in front of his name, he is full and will take no more newbies at the moment.
-Team's name appears in italics, he can only take one more newbie.
-Speaks a language apart from English, this is indicated next to their team between square brackets.

I think that's a good idea. We will wait before sticking it, but that's a good initiative.

One thing, I would recommend that newcomers send a BB-mail instead of posting here. From my experience on the french forum, the tutors do not look that often to the thread and sending a BB-mail directly shows that you are motivated and willing to be proactive instead of a "i want a tutor lol" post.

If you think my message was mean, imagine I was sarcastic, that was probably the case.

I'm willing to help some newbies out so sign me up. I may only have a season and a half under my belt but I understand the aspects of BB.

Sure, I will do it. 13 seasons of BB will do it.
I've only mentored one man before but, ready to help
But, you have to remember if someone is stubborn enough, they won't think we are right.
Long live BB!

Thanks! I think it is getting a very positive response, taking into account several managers have already offered their help in a few hours.

As for your suggestion, agreed. The opening post has been re-written to address this.

Many thanks, Jeroenderbar! You have been included in the Mentor List and I have put Dutch as a language you speak fluently other than English. If you speak any other language, please let me know, as I have introduced this to ease communication with mentors/newbies who may share a common language

Many thanks for your reply, Sportsmaniac99! You have already been added to the Mentors List. As for your short experience, it's not about how long you have been over here, but how well you used this time. In your case, I'm sure you can do a wonderful job.

Also, if you speak any language other than English, just let me know, as this has been recently introduced.

Thanks for offering your help, sparky44! I have modified the OP to ensure newbies understand they must do their best to take on board the advise received

Also, if you speak any language other than English (I have assumed you also speak French from your team's name, am I right?) please let me know as this has been added to ease communication.
