So I have a decent prospect (imo, but I suck at building these guys) who I wanted to train into a small forward. Unfortunately, the kids got atrocious OD. Is it even worth training or is it a waste of time to train OD at this point? Should I just train him to play the 4 position or even sell him?

Owner: Sacramento Earthquakes

His stats:

DMI: 36600
Age: 19
Height: 6'8" / 203 cm
Potential: perennial allstar
Game Shape: strong

Jump Shot: strong Jump Range: average
Outside Def.: atrocious Handling: proficient
Driving: respectable Passing: mediocre
Inside Shot: mediocre Inside Def.: respectable
Rebounding: respectable Shot Blocking: average
Stamina: mediocre Free Throw: mediocre

Experience: atrocious

Thanks guys!

The problem is even at the PF spot, that atrocious OD will be a detriment if he's facing competition at higher levels. With a perennial all star, though, you have plenty of time to address that - and since the prevailing theory of the elastic effect's implementation suggests that ID helps increase the OD gains in pressure, it should be less painful to raise. Other than that, he's got really nice guard skills for a youngster with his height.

I will say that I'm a huge proponent of OD on every player, though.

I wouldn't train him as SF, for that I feel his OD is indeed to low. Might be personal though, since I like my SF's with high OD to run 3-2 zone. You could train his as PF since his other secondaries are decent, and either have him switch on defense with the Center (assuming he has better OD) or just train it to a level where it's not that big of a hole.

He more of pf than a small forward with his guard skills... I think Od never hurt to 5-6 on him which is possible with him maybe even higher. Then you'll have 2 slot player who can play about 4 tactics as sf or pf in a honest fashion with out being a liability.
