Hello everyone,

I'm writing this thread hoping that someone with more experience than me on the BuzzerBeater world can give me some tactical advice regarding my next match.

I'm still new here, have been playing for 4 months, and still an avid learner.
My next game is a cup match against a considerably stronger team (39093). He has a monster PF with a 24k wage (8158865), where his second highest paid player earns 7k. He has been playing TIE since the beginning of the season, and so have I.

I have a feeling he's going to win the game with relative ease, and I'm tempted to throw the match and play TIE to, at least, win an enthusiasm boost from this.
However, if there was a chance I could win it, I wouldn't mind throwing him a "crunch time" and go for the win.

So here's my question: he keeps changing his tactics and I have no clue what to expect from this match. How would you guys deal with him?

Thank you for your time, looking forward to learn with the pros :)

He has monster PF, but you have monsters C,you have totally better team I think, he even doesn't have real SF and C, I think he will play Look Inside and 3-2 zone, ask someone else what is best against that :D

His defence are too tight against you and the only offence option for you is Motion/Run and Gun. But you still have a chance. His team creates too many turnovers, you might want to use Full Court Press to create even more since he's bound to be playing Look inside again. Look Inside requires the ball to be passed more often in order to get inside, this creates opportunites for you to create turnovers. However I suggest you to use Run and Gun if you are gonna use FCP, becuz Run and Gun mainly uses your Guards on offence and it's likely you will get a fast break after a turnover therefore if you want your guards to perform great, use Run and Gun. Good Luck. If you want, it might be fun to play a hard up match against a team better than you.

I don't consider myself a pro but i have some advice for you.do NOT play a 2-3 thinking of his recent look inside tactics and his good PF ,IF your C-Pf are quite good defenders then you can play man to man or even 3-2.Offensively i would recommend an inside tactic as his inside defence is weaker than outside and there is also a chance that he may play 3-2 zone.

Offence:look inside or low post (you must have the players to play these tactics, good passers and even the guards should have some inside scoring ability)
Defence:man to man

There is certainly a chance to beat him

P.S That is what i would do if i played him, our teams are similar

Thank you both for your quick inputs.

MacDade, already learned something from you tonight: had no idea about that turnover characteristic of Look Inside! It does make sense, never thought the game engine was that complex.
This might be a silly question, but is there any chance that a guard with an high inside shot will finish a fast break with a drive through the basket, or does the game engine threat the Run and Gun as a perimeter offensive tactic only?
I'm asking you this because curiously, my best guards have quite good inside skills (which is useful to me, since I usually play Look Inside).

It sure would be a challenge if I went for the win. It's tempting, just want to make sure I'm not wasting enthusiasm needlessly.

I agree that you have a shot in this game. I wouldn't recommend playing Full Court Press, unless your players have unbelievable stamina. Otherwise it will tire your players very easily and end up leading to a lot of easy baskets. If you have a look at his stats, he has only hit 4 3-pointers in 4 league games, so I would go with 2-3 zone to counter the "Look Inside" which he seems to use more often and to get a boost in rebounding.

As for offense, you'll know your team's strengths and weaknesses better than anyone of us, but if you want to slow things down I would suggest the Princeton offense. You have a reasonable 3-pt % and good inside players, so it could work. If you can't decide on outside/inside focus go for a neutral stance (Push the Ball or Patient) and let your players make the calls. (Boa Sorte!)

Sorry about the double post, just wanted to say I don't know why someone rated your answer with one basketball, I found it useful. Gave it a 5, hopefuly someone else will do the same to raise it some more :)

Cheers!

er...just for correction. I do not believe there is a TO characteristic for LI when someone is playing FCP and I have not seen any evidence of this hypothesis. Your best bet against someone playing FCP is to play a fast paced tactic like LI/PTB/RNG so your guys have a shoot first mentality rather than a pass the ball and try find the right shot mentality which could result in more turnovers.

Run and Gun is an outside orientated outside tactic. But if your guard's best shot at the time is an inside drive than he will still take it. Player try to take the best shot available for them at the time. You might want to scout your opponent a bit and see what is his most likely tactic for defense and play something to exploit it
