I just promoted from D.IV into D.III arguably the toughest D.III out there... I'm debating whether to fight hard the entire season in order to tread water and avoid relegation. If I did this my earned money would head straight for my arena in hopes of increasing my income. OR I demote, with large cash sums, spend a season in D.IV and go back up into another D.III league with more money and a bigger arena.

My finances

Salaries ~200k Arena (Should be 140k-150k)
Staff ~40k Merchandise (Should be ~ 30-35k)
Scouting 10k TV (Should be ~82k)

Total Earnings: About 2-22k

Right now I have 50k

This would put me at ending the season with very little money and a chance of heading back down to D.IV with not much to show for it....

***OR***

I could sell all of my players which in my estimations would fetch about 1.5 mill to 1.8 mill - This would leave me with my three or four trainees, my big Gary March (28k sal) and some subs leaving me just above the salary floor of 71k

I would also replace me PR Manager and possibly my Doctor and increase scouting slightly resulting in this economy update

Salaries 75k Arena 130k??
Staff ~35k Merchandise 30k
Scouting 15k TV Contract 82k

Earning about 120k a week

With the total from my player sales, I would have about 1.6 Mill plus another 1.5 to 1.7 Mill from the season leaving with a grand total of just over 3 million. This is the minimum, I would hope for it to be closer to 4 mill...

From there I would be sent to D.IV for a season where I would already have two guards at about 30k salaries (My current trainees) My big Gary March 30k My younger Trainee who would have about a 12k salary and 3-4 million to do whatever I wanted with. I could build my arena and stack my roster to promote the very next season into a hopefully weaker D.III with 1 Million or so left over plus the 300k Bonus.

---------My Question-----------

Should I tank?? I would hate to see my team go through this but on paper it looks a lot better than hopefully staying in a D.III where I don't make any money and run a risk of dropping back down anyways...

Thanks for any help I know this is a long post haha:)

Also! How much would my attendance suffer from tanking? Would I still be able to sell a majority or would the fans stop coming?? How big of a hit should I expect?

expect a large hit in attendence (especially when you are 0-12, etc) and especially in bleacher seats.

If it were me, I would fight to stay up, because who knows what kind of D.IV you'll demote into. If you demote into, say IV.13, or a similar one with 4+ DIII ready teams, it could be a long time until you promote. In addition, it would be boring to go 0-22!

Personally, I would just try to stay up. However if you know there is no way you can avoid relegation, and don't mind 14 weeks of boredom (and another 14 weeks of dominating a DIV-potentially), then economically it makes more sense to tank, and cut all but essential salary.

I'm betting I can avoid relegation this season, but my fear is that I won't make any money or go anywhere and if I DO end up relegating it would be sad to do it without making money along the way... This is a tough one...

Avoid the relegation and invest heavily in the draft. Finishing 6th'd be right and, if you get a very easy rival, being 7th could be a great "investment" too.

Yeah I'm guessing I could end up with anywhere from a 4-7 seed... very close race for the bottom half of my division. I'm planning on doing 10k a week on scouting and doing the group demonstration, should get me a majority of the draft figured out.

till now i didn't tank a full season, but i imagine loosing all games on porpuse is pretty boring and frustrating too. Jus the result of the training updates on friday wouldn't be enough for me.

I'm also overmatched in my league with salaries ranging from $60,000 to $800,000 while still growing arena and training. I think that rather than tanking, it will be more challenging to balancing training, minutes, winning and enthusiasm. I could possibly have won my first game except that my trainee went 1/11 but them's the breaks.

For whatever it's worth, once the promotion bonus wore off, I made about the same amount of money treading water as a 6-7th seed in D.III as I did winning 21-1 games in D.IV.

I didn't relegate on purpose (and I'm not saying you should either) but I think some teams can be in a position occasionally where it is a reasonable thing to at least consider if it is part of a long-term plan, and I would say that the week to week income is not wildly different between losing teams in D.III and winning teams in D.IV.

If you're riding a promotion bonus, or just able to win in general, you will obviously be able to make more in D.III. And there are all the risks of not being able to bounce back up from D.IV right away that people have already brought up.

I would reevaluate this 6-8 games into the season, when the standings start to indicate your chances to stay up. You went to the trouble to win a championship and promote, why not make a go of it in your new league! Just my two cents.

good idea, also he could play competive in the cup that way, and with a bit of luck he could win some rounds there.
